The six finalists for the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2025 have been announced. Following an impressive semi-final concert at BBC Pacific Quay, where 12 talented musicians delivered 10-minute performances, the judges faced tough decisions. The finalists are:
- Clelland Shand – accordion, Fife
- Ellie Beaton – voice, Rothienorman, Aberdeenshire
- Laura Penman – clarsach, Edinburgh
- Miguel Girão – guitar, Portugal (now based in Scotland)
- Noah Scott – piano, France (now based in Scotland)
- Roo Geddes – fiddle, Glasgow
The semi-final judging panel, consisting of Jenna Reid, Ciorstaidh Beaton, Emma Gryczka, Robyn Stapleton, and Matt Wilson, praised the exceptional talent displayed during the competition.
The six finalists will now compete in the grand final at the Celtic Connections festival in February 2025, held at the City Halls in Glasgow.
