On Saturday, November 23, acclaimed flamenco singer David de Jacoba will present A Las Grecas, a tribute to the groundbreaking 1970s gypsy rock duo. Known for his eclectic approach to flamenco, de Jacoba integrates influences from Las Grecas and the vibrant Madrid-based Caño Roto sound, mixing traditional roots with modern genres.

Accompanied by Pablo Suárez (piano), Shayan Fathí (drums), and Antonio Ramos “Maca” (electric bass), de Jacoba’s set eschews the traditional flamenco guitar to explore innovative musical textures. This lineup highlights his ability to bridge flamenco’s deep traditions with experimental sounds.

De Jacoba’s career spans international stages, collaborations with iconic artists like Paco de Lucía, and accolades such as Flamenco Hoy’s Best Debut Album for Jubileo in 2014. Currently recording his second album, de Jacoba continues to push the boundaries of flamenco music while honoring its heritage.

On Sunday, November 24, National Dance Award winner Ana Morales brings her latest work, La Fragilidad, to Miradas Flamenkas. Known for her elegant and emotive performances, Morales explores the intersection of flamenco, memory, and minimalism.

Accompanied by pianist José Carra, Morales combines contemporary dance with poetic verse and evocative piano compositions. Her innovative choreography, rooted in personal history and rich with nuance, redefines flamenco as an intimate, reflective art form.

A seasoned performer, Morales has garnered numerous awards, including the Giraldillo for Dance at the Bienal de Flamenco in 2018 and multiple Lorca Awards.

Exhibition: Celebrating 50 Years of Las Grecas’ Legacy

Complementing the live performances, the festival features Locamente, Gipsy Rock 50 Años, an immersive exhibition celebrating the legacy of Las Grecas. Visitors can explore iconic images, media clippings, and audiovisual material documenting the duo’s revolutionary fusion of flamenco and rock. The exhibit offers an engaging journey into the cultural and musical effect of Carmela and Tina, whose groundbreaking sound defined an era.

Don’t miss this weekend’s unique blend of tradition and innovation at Miradas Flamenkas, where flamenco’s timeless essence meets bold new expressions.
