“Dreams Like That” by Volume Five: A Nostalgic Bluegrass Journey

Volume Five‘s latest single, “Dreams Like That” (Mountain Fever Records), is a soulful bluegrass track that encapsulates the warmth of cherished memories. With lyrics that reflect on family and moments of joy, the song’s central line, “if only all my dreams could be like that,” conveys a powerful sense of longing. The tune’s gentle rhythm and melodic flow amplify this sense of nostalgia, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that invites listeners to reminisce along with the band.

David Coriell has always been one of my favorite writers. The simplicity in his songwriting and melodies has always made me want to record each and every song he sends me. He is a natural born songwriter and singer,” says Glen Harrell.

“Dreams Like That” features the talents of Glen Harrell on lead vocals and fiddle, Jacob Burleson on guitar and vocals, Aaron Ramsey on mandolin and vocals, Jeff Partin on resophonic guitar, and Jacob Eller on bass.

  1. What an incredible song! Not too many songs “hit me from behind” the first time I hear them; but this one did! Not so sure why it got to me like it did: perhaps it was the beautiful melody and lyrics that are so profound. It certainly fits in with the yearnings of today. The musical interlude creates “a-wait-for-it” finish, that many may miss or dismiss. Corny, cute, wishful thinking? I don’t think so! Inspired, anointed, real? I have no doubt! Many don’t know that Blue Grass roots are intertwined in the beauty of Christian Celtic folk music, some of which was transplanted in Appalachia, taking on a new flavour. I think songs like this will nudge many into spiritual renewal and revival, which is always the end of the great search for those who truly find it.
