Suma Flamenca 2024 promises a series of exceptional cante recitals featuring some of flamenco‘s most renowned voices from October 15 to November 3, 2024. Carmen Linares, Marina Heredia, Pedro el Granaíno, María Terremoto, Bonela Hijo, Laura Marchal, Antonio Campos, Curro Piñana, Rafael Jiménez “Falo”, Aurora Vargas, Laura Vital, José Canela, and La Casa de los Sordera (Enrique, Lela, and Vicente Soto) will all take the stage, showcasing their artistry.
Several artists will present new works at the festival. Israel Fernández will debut El Gallo Azul, a tribute to an iconic early 20th-century venue in Jerez that hosted some of flamenco’s greats. In this performance at Teatros del Canal, Fernández will pay homage to artists who have deeply influenced him, including Manuel Torre, Antonio Chacón, Juanito Mojama, Isabelita de Jerez, La Pompi, El Gloria, and Sernita.
At the Centro Cultural Paco Rabal, Ezequiel Benítez will celebrate his 30-year career with 30 Años de Cante, a retrospective featuring highlights from his last five albums. Also at this venue, Paco del Pozo will honor poet and flamenco scholar Félix Grande with his show A Félix Grande, blending traditional cante with poetry in a performance directed by filmmaker Emilio Ruiz Barrachina.
The festival also includes two special gala performances. Tomasito, both a singer and dancer, will perform at the Centro Cultural Paco Rabal with his band, focusing on his latest album Agustisimísimo alongside classics from his career. Meanwhile, Las Mónicas de Cádiz will return after a seven-year hiatus with Cuando Se Entra por Cai, a celebration of Cádiz’s unique culture, at the Centro Cultural Pilar Miró.
