Ustad Shahid Parvez and Shakir Khan are set to perform on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. at Roulette, in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City.
Ustad Shahid Parvez, a leading figure of the Etawah gharana, represents the seventh generation of this prestigious musical lineage. Trained by his father, Ustad Aziz Khan, he began public performances at the age of eight and has since become one of India’s most celebrated sitarists. His accolades include the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Academy Award.
Joining him is his son, Shakir Khan, a prominent sitarist in his own right. Following his father’s guidance, Shakir made his debut at 11 and has performed extensively at India’s major music festivals. Accompanying them on tabla will be Shakir Khan, a rising talent in the Indian classical music scene.
