Princess Vinia Barbasin. a photo of the artist sitting, playing shekere, wearing traditional clothing.

Superb Song by Cameroonian Artist Princess Vinia

I don’t know if she’s actual royalty, but Cameroon’s Princess Vinia has a dandy of a track called “Barbasin” that starts with a beat tapped out on a shekere and builds sweet layers of rhythm, melody and call-and-response vocals. Recommended for those (like me) who prefer African music that favors a traditional approach.
