Vinicius Cantuária to Perform at City Winery Chicago

Vinicius Cantuária, a prominent figure in Brazilian music for over four decades, is set to perform on Tuesday, September 17, at City Winery in Chicago.

Cantuária is renowned for his compositions “Lua e Estrela” and “Só Você,” which became MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) classics, each selling over 3 million copies in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1994, he relocated from Brazil to Brooklyn, New York, to explore new directions in bossa nova. There, he gained recognition as a versatile percussionist, guitarist, and singer, collaborating with artists such as David Byrne, Norah Jones, and Caetano Veloso.

After returning to Rio de Janeiro in 2014, Cantuária continued to innovate. His latest album, Psychedelic Rio, features a shift from his signature acoustic guitar to an electric Fender, offering a fresh, powerful interpretation of Brazilian music.
