Inaugural Oregon Celtic Festival Set for September 13-15

Wandering in Time Productions and the Washington Renaissance Arts & Education Society, the organizers of the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire and the Oregon Renaissance Faire, have unveiled the lineup for the inaugural Oregon Celtic Festival. The event will take place from September 13-15, 2024, at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, located at 694 NE 4th Avenue in Canby, Oregon, USA.

Festival Highlights:

  • The Elders: Known for their enduring Celtic-rock sound, the band has garnered a wide international following with their mix of progressive and traditional music. Their storytelling often features themes of love, loyalty, and Irish spirit.
  • Screaming Orphans: This acclaimed all-sister group from Donegal, Ireland, offers a fusion of original pop and traditional Irish music. With their four-part harmonies and dynamic performances, they deliver a captivating musical experience.
  • Alasdair Fraser and Friends: A celebrated Scottish fiddler with over three decades in the industry, Fraser has contributed to numerous film soundtracks and holds multiple awards, including his induction into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. Joining him will be his son, Galen Fraser, and Maria San Miguel as part of the San Miguel Fraser duo.
  • Tempest: Celebrating 36 years of high-energy folk rock, Tempest combines Irish, Scottish, and Norwegian music elements with other world music styles.
  • Wake the Dead: Combining rock grooves with traditional Irish reels, this ensemble drawes inspiration from the Grateful Dead and Celtic traditions.

Additional artists include Reverie Road, The Jeremiahs, TRÚ, Hanneke Cassel Trio, Colin Cotter & Sumaia Jackson, Elias Alexander, Adams, Martin & Linahon, Tradmill, and The Unipiper.

Festival Activities and Experiences:

  • The Fairy Realm: Designed for children and the young at heart, this area features costumed fairies, bubbles, crafting, songs, games, and storytelling.
  • Marketplace: A variety of merchant and artisan vendors will display their crafts and wares, alongside a selection of food vendors offering both Celtic and modern cuisine.
  • Camping: The festival provides on-site camping options for tents and RVs.
  • Bard’s Tour of Whiskey: For guests aged 21 and over, this whiskey-tasting event includes a selection of global whiskeys, a commemorative glass, and light snacks.
