Túnel Acústico is a real treat, literally, full of irresistible, feel good songs rooted in samba and funk, with catchy hooks that will cheer you up. It includes two tracks initially conceived during Valle’s time in Los Angeles: “Feels So Good,” a two-step soul piece written in 1979 with Leon Ware, and “Life Is What It Is,” an AOR disco track co-written with Laudir De Oliveira from Chicago. The album features contributions from Valle’s core band, including Alex Malheiros and Renato Massa of Azymuth, percussionist Ian Moreira, guitarist Paulinho Guitarra, and trumpeter Jesse Sadoc.
The album also presents collaborations with Brazilian lyricists Joyce Moreno, Céu, Moreno Veloso, and Valle’s brother Paulo Sergio Valle. Notably, the closing track, “Thank You Burt (For Bacharach),” is a tribute to the late composer Burt Bacharach.
Valle’s career began in 1962, and he has since released twenty-two studio albums. His compositions have been performed by renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Sergio Mendes, Elis Regina, and Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls. Valle’s music has also been sampled by Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Pusha T.
