Singer-songwriter and guitarist Sarah McQuaid has announced upcoming extensive tours of the UK and USA. Sarah McQuaid, though largely unknown to the public, has an impressive resume. She has been featured in a BBC Radio 4 Counterpoint quiz question, included on the O2 Music Map, and supported by the Arts Council. McQuaid has received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her guitar work and earned critical acclaim for her seven albums and live performances.
Based in Cornwall, the singer-songwriter plans to increase her visibility with a 55-show fall tour across the UK and USA, bringing her total gigs this year to 98. While this is fewer than the 118 concerts she played in 2023, her first full touring year since the pandemic, it remains an ambitious effort.
“I’m basically trying to build a fan base one gig at a time,” Sarah says. “It’s why I do a lot of village hall and library concerts, because those shows draw an audience that hasn’t necessarily ever heard of me, but goes along anyway because it’s in their local area, and it’s not a big investment for them — the library concerts are almost always free to the public and the village halls tend to be subsidized.”
