Varadero Josone Festival is back this August

From August 18 to 25, 2024, the fifth edition of the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival will take place in Matanzas and its renowned beach resort.

Under the slogan “Déjalo que suene,” the festival aims to showcase the best of Cuban and international music through a series of concerts, according to the press release.

This year, the Organizing Committee is increasing public access to the event, offering free admission, particularly for the concerts on August 18, 19, and 20 at El Tenis beach.

Adriano DJ will perform at Josone Park, the festival’s main venue, kicking off the four most anticipated nights of the event. Confirmed performers for the Josone Park stage include Issac Delgado, Los Van Van, Alain Pérez, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Síntesis, Wampi, Real Project, and Raúl Paz.

The idea to extend the festival to the city of Matanzas originated last year during the celebrations of the city’s 330th anniversary and the 160th anniversary of the Sauto Theater.

Varadero Josone, organized by the Egrem label and singer Issac Delgado, aims to become a notable event on the international festival circuit. The festival seeks to solidify its presence in Cuba’s premier tourist destination with music as its core attraction.

Josone Park, located at the intersection of 1st Avenue and 56th Avenue in Varadero, is a nine-hectare garden featuring trees, flowers, and a natural lagoon surrounded by palm trees.

The name “Josone” combines the first letters of José Iturrioz and Onelia Méndez, who envisioned this place as a symbol of their enduring love in 1942.
