In a memorable edition of the International Celtic World Festival in Ortigueira, the jury of the Runas Contest made an exceptional decision: both Alana and Buíoch were awarded the first prize due to the exceptional quality of their performances.
- Alana: Known for their virtuosity, creativity, and ability to connect with the audience, Alana combined traditional Galician music with contemporary electronic and pop rhythms. Their performance on the Estrella Galicia Stage was a highlight of the night.
- Buíoch: This Irish traditional music group, consisting of Dale Mckay, Ruaidhrí Tierney, Kurt Dinneen Carroll, and David Harte, delivered an impeccable and captivating performance. Their mix of traditional yet progressive sounds resonated with both the audience and the jury.
- Picarós: Although not the ultimate winners, this Asturian folk trio featured remarkable talent and dedication during the fiercely contested final.
The jury, composed of Alberto Balboa (director of the International Celtic World Festival), Bruno Lozano (president of the Escola de Gaitas de Ortigueira), and Segundo Grandío (music producer), congratulated all three groups for their professionalism.
The Runas Contest, held since 2000, aims to promote emerging Celtic music groups while emphasizing original compositions. With over 250 national and international bands having participated, this platform remains vital for nurturing new talent within the Celtic and folk music scene.
