Tresboliyu Folk Enthusiastically Merge Folk Traditions with Rock Beats

Tresboliyu Folk – Amigos del Folk (2024)

Tresboliyu Folk has released its debut album, Amigos del folk (friends of folk), meaning friends of folk music. At the same time, this recording marks the emergence of a new Cantabrian folk group.

Tresboliyu Folk has dropped its debut EP, Amigos del Folk, marking the rise of a fresh Cantabrian folk-rock outfit. Born from the shared passion of eight musicians from mountainous northern Spain, Tresboliyu Folk bring together their diverse musical backgrounds to breathe new life into traditional folk music. They took shape in 2020 aiming to fuse roots music with modern sounds.

Amigos del Folk features six tracks that totally represent the band’s unique identity. For sure, Tresboliyu Folk merges traditional folk music from Cantabria in northern Spain (and elsewhere) with rock influences. Their joyful, assertive and multifaceted sound is a vibrant mix of bagpipes, fiddle, accordion, and traditional vocals, all intertwined with guitars and a rock rhythm section. This way, they preserve the songs of the elders who performed them at pilgrimages and local festivities. At the same time, they passionately introduce these timeless songs to younger generations.

Produced by La Plancha Entretenida and recorded at Precarios Studios by Artur Webber, the EP was funded by the Department of Universities, Equality, Culture, and Sports of the Government of Cantabria.
