Junior Sisk’s latest album, If There’s a Will There’s a Way (Mountain Fever Records), includes the standout track “Memories of Mother.” This piece reflects Sisk’s signature blend of crooning, blues-infused bluegrass. Its relaxed melody evokes nostalgic recollections of cherished childhood moments.
Sisk shares: “This is a song I have been singing since my teenage years. A long time ago! It’s a Stanley Brother’s song that I learned from the Second Generation album by Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs. When I first thought about recording this song, I thought back to those days and called Ricky to see if he would sing it with me. When we got the song done, I asked Ricky what he thought and his response was, ‘I think Ralph would be proud.'”
Written by Carter Stanley, the track features Sisk on lead vocals and guitar; Ricky Skaggs on tenor vocal; alongside Jonathan Dillon on mandolin, Tony Mabe on banjo, Curt Love on bass, Heather Berry Mabe on guitar, and Tim Crouch on fiddle. The engineering, mixing, and mastering were handled by Aaron Ramsey, with production jointly led by Sisk and Ramsey.
