LIMúR, the newly created Iberian Roots Music Chart, has revealed its first chart in April 2024. The album Montañesas (Raso Estudio, 2023) by Spanish band Casapalma has reached the number 1 position.
Casapalma, a gifted outfit, presents the mountain melodies and Cantabrian traditions of northern Spain in their debut album, Montañesas. This collection of uplifting songs expands the boundaries of Spanish traditional music while highlighting the often-overlooked Cantabrian folk and mountain tunes.
Yoel Molina and Irene Atienza revitalize, reinterpret, and amplify highland folklore imagery by fusing traditional and contemporary styles.
Band members include: Irene Atienza on vocals; Yoel Molina on guitar and keyboards; Esteban Bolado on rabel; Conchi García on pandereta; Rodrigo Ballesteros on drums; Aurelio Velez on pandereta; David Lopez on gaita and ocarina; and Nacho Soto on keyboards and effects.

LIMúR convenes a team of experts versed in various facets of roots music, encompassing traditional, folk, world music, flamenco, fado, and other styles. The organization maintains an inclusive approach, evaluating each recording based on its artistic merit rather than its genre.
Annually, LIMúR publishes four quarterly charts and an annual ranking featuring the highest-rated long-playing albums meeting the aforementioned criteria. This unique category encompasses productions of any format or distribution method.
