Piranha Arts and Manchester Music City, partners for the 30th anniversary edition of WOMEX, have announced the opening of the annual call for proposals. Scheduled from October 23 to 27, 2024, in Manchester, UK, this edition invites submissions from musicians, filmmakers, and music professionals globally, promoting a diverse representation of talent.
Embracing diversity and inclusivity, WOMEX 2024 encourages submissions from all backgrounds. Proposals enhancing the international music scene’s diversity, encompassing culture, region, gender, styles, and performance tradition, are particularly welcomed.
Renowned as a pivotal event in the world music scene, WOMEX stands as the epitome of musical diversity worldwide. From traditional to avant-garde global underground, it encompasses folk, roots, jazz, local and diaspora cultures, and urban and electronic sounds from across the globe.
The WOMEX event will unfold at various venues in Manchester’s city center. Manchester Central will host the primary daytime conference and trade fair, while Aviva Studios, Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, and O2 Ritz will showcase live music alongside international films at HOME.
Proposals can be submitted across four categories: Showcase, Club Summit, Film, and Conference. Submission is through the dedicated website: www.womex-apply.com.
