Demystifying Flamenco: Faustino Núñez Invites All to Torero Cultural Tuesdays

Flamenco enlightenment is now accessible to all, thanks to Faustino Núñez and the Torero Cultural Tuesdays (Los martes culturales de Torero).

Faustino Núñez, a distinguished flamencologist, will be leading these captivating lectures once a month at the enchanting Teatro Tablao Flamenco Torero in Madrid. Notably, the event on November 28th will showcase the expertise of Manuel Bohórquez.

Some may perceive flamenco as an enigmatic musical genre that’s challenging to fathom, adding to its mystique. However, one need not completely grasp it to relish its beauty. To alleviate any potential reservations, the Teatro Tablao Flamenco Torero has graciously opened its doors to monthly lectures with free admission. These gatherings, aptly named Torero Cultural Tuesdays, aim to demystify and bring flamenco closer to all who are interested. Faustino Núñez frequently takes the stage, having already charmed the audience with his insights on “El compás flamenco” last October.

For those unfamiliar with Faustino Núñez, he is a renowned musicologist and a Flamencology professor at the Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba. He is also the founder of Flamencópolis, a prominent platform for flamenco aficionados and professionals alike. The upcoming Torero Cultural Tuesday lecture, scheduled for November 14th at 7:30 p.m., will delve into “The harmony of the flamenco guitar.”

Moreover, there’s a thrilling lineup of lectures by Faustino Núñez on the horizon, featuring these captivating topics:

December 19, 2023: “The musical forms of flamenco”
January 23, 2024: “The lyrics of flamenco singing”

In addition to Faustino Núñez’s contributions, November brings an extra treat with a lecture by Manuel Bohórquez on Tuesday, November 28. Mr. Bohórquez, a self-taught journalist and writer, has been an influential figure in the world of flamenco. Since 1984, he has been a dedicated flamenco critic and columnist for El Correo de Andalucía. His professional journey includes radio programs like “Lo Nuestro” on Antena 3 Radio and “El Duende y el tárab” on Radio Aljarafe, as well as television appearances on “Arte y Artistas Flamencos” on Spanish Television. Manuel Bohórquez’s forthcoming lecture promises to explore the “Pioneers of Flamenco.”

Teatro Tablao Flamenco Torero is located at Calle de la Cruz 26, 28012 Madrid, Spain.
