Osso Sacro Triumphs at the 16th ‘Premio Andrea Parodi’ World Music Contest

Osso Sacro, hailing from Campania, emerged triumphant at the 16th edition of the prestigious “Premio Andrea Parodi” World Music contest. The event was held from October 12th to 14th at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari, Italy. Notably, the band also earned accolades for their exceptional arrangement skills.

Meanwhile, the critics’ prize, along with the honor for the finest lyrics, was bestowed upon Andrea Andrillo, a talented artist representing Sardinia. Guido Maria Grillo, another artist from Campania, garnered recognition for the best interpretation and best performance of a song originally sung by Andrea Parodi. The competitors themselves recommended these three artists, emphasizing their equal merit.

Adding to the festivities, Hiram Salsano, from Campania, claimed the prize from the international jury, while Looping Greis, representing Madrid, received the audience’s recognition. The distinction for the finest musical composition was bestowed upon Curamunì, a group from Sicily.

The final contest featured not only these remarkable artists, but also Ra Di Spina from Campania and Trillanti from Lazio. The event was organized by the Foundation Andrea Parodi, under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda.

The grand stage witnessed the presence of distinguished guests from the Italian and international music scene. Peppe Voltarelli graced the audience with his performance on Friday, and on Saturday, Fausta Vetere, accompanied by Umberto Maisto, as well as Giacomo Vardeu and Ual-la, delivered remarkable performances. The evening culminated with Paolo Angeli, who was honored with the Albo d’oro Award.

Both the guests and finalists paid tribute to Andrea Parodi by performing songs from his remarkable repertoire. The event is a heartfelt dedication to this artist, who, after his tenure with Tazenda, embarked on a prominent solo career in the world music industry, leaving an indelible mark.

The event was hosted by Gianmaurizio Foderaro and Ottavio Nieddu, with Rai Radio1 serving as the main media partner.

For those unable to attend in person, the three evenings were streamed live on the Facebook pages of the Andrea Parodi Foundation and EjaTV, and the third evening was also broadcast on Rai Radio1 and Rai Radio Tutta Italiana.

In the months to come, Sardegna1 will present a special edition of the Prize evenings, ensuring that the celebration of these exceptional artists reaches a broader audience.
