Teatros del Canal’s Sala de Cristal is set to present a series of flamenco concerts held until November 30, 2024, and another round of concerts between February and March 2024 there will be. The Canal Flamenco series will be held on Wednesdays, focused on new generations of artists who are making their debut right now, as well as great classics of Madrid’s flamenco culture. This year, part of this flamenco program is carried out in collaboration with the Society of Performers and Performers through the AIEnRuta Flamencos program.
Morenito de Illora hijo (Jr.) opened the series October 4. Born in 1994, his artistic godfather, Tomatito, has endorsed the singer’s flamenco roots: “When he sings, he reaches the depths of the soul and heart; certainly, at his age it is not his age to sing with that wisdom.”
Madrid native Ingueta “El Rubio” (1977) will perform on October 18. In addition to being a singer, guitarist, and violinist, he is one of the main rising talents in current flamenco as a singer. As a solo singer accompanying himself on the guitar, he inaugurated Suma Flamenca in 2013 and 2015 and has performed in the most important Spanish theaters.
The performance by Juan Carrasco Rodríguez “Juañarito” from Jerez will take place on November 1. Like many other flamenco artists, he comes from a family of singers, like his parents, Juañares and Chelo Pantoja. Former contestant on the show La Voz with an extensive television career, he has worked with prestigious artists such as Estrella Morente, Isabel Pantoja, and Antonio Canales, among others.
The last show of the series this year will be November 8. It will highlight young singer Fernanda Peña (Seville), a gifted singer and nurse by profession. She released her first songs recorded with Pugna, a seguiriya that combined flamenco roots and electronics.
