Spanish rock singer Dani Llamas (Jerez de la Frontera) dares to perform bulería por soleá in the song “El color de los Días” (The color of the days) in collaboration with flamenco singer Rocío Márquez (Huelva). This is a preview of Llamas’ upcoming recording, Sangre, to be released by Wild Punk Records.”I wrote this song based on a flamenco style very typical of my land, Jerez, the bulería por soleá,” says Dani Llamas.
Notably, this song has not only served to continue expanding his field of musical research, but also as therapy: “The lyrics are profound, and to a certain extent, it is self-therapeutic, one of those of recognizing in what position and moment you find yourself at the moment of writing. I needed it to open in terms of choruses, something outside of flamenco, and that managed to be timeless.”
Regarding Rocío Márquez’s involvement, Llamas notes: “She came to the studio and combined her voice with mine to give the choruses even greater intensity. I remember her words when I played it for her: ‘Wow, friend, what intensity.’”
Llamas adds: “The chorus hooks us with the tradition of the great song makers of yesteryear, it reminds me of Manuel Alejandro. It is an ultra-concentrated song, I can squeeze myself into it in less than three and a half minutes. It is one of my favorite songs of the new CD.”
The band includes Rafa Camisón on drums and percussion; Marco Serrato on bass; Koe Casas on organ and piano; Manuel Mateos on electric guitar; and Paco Loco on guitar and synthesizers.
