Claudio Ceccoli – A Los Saltos (2019)
Composer Claudio Ceccoli has been playing for 20 years with an eight nylon string guitar (two bass strings added) with an engaging repertoire based mainly on his own compositions on Argentine folk rhythms and from the Río de la Plata. Significantly, Ceccoli skillfully and beautifully mixes tradition with modernity.
The Argentine guitarist met flutist Diego Suárez many years ago, and since then they have performed numerous concerts together. But it was not until April 2019 when they decided to get together in a recording studio to capture this experience, the eleventh album in Ceccoli’s career.
A los saltos is a set of twelve exquisite compositions by Claudio Ceccoli inspired by Argentine and River Plate rhythms, with a marked tendency towards classical music sounds and with a great openness to improvisation. The twelve songs were recorded in the old-fashioned way, respecting the live performance as much as possible and trying to minimize corrections.
Diego plays flute in C and G on this album, so that, despite being only two musicians, they manage to generate unusual timbres.
A los saltos was produced thanks to a development subsidy from the National Institute of Music (INAMU) on Argentina.
Musicians: Claudio Ceccoli: nylon 8-string guitar (built by Rodolfo Cuculelli); and Diego Suárez on flutes.
