Israeli producer, composer, and percussionist Sangit has release the single ‘Danser’ featuring the Grammy Award-winning singer Dobet Gnahoré from the Ivory Coast. This song is a glimpse into Sangit’s upcoming album, titled Oorooo, scheduled for release on October 27th. The track ‘Danser’ combines an African blues-inspired guitar riff with a touch of gnawa, creating a vibrant rhythm.
Sangit contributes his own musical talents by playing the calabash, congas, and shakers. The lyrics, penned by Noa Golan and beautifully conveyed by Dobet, reflect on the yearning for simpler village life and childhood, as well as the solace found in dancing and prayer.
Ooroo incorporates various languages like French, Portuguese, Hebrew, English, and Spanish, presenting a rich blend of traditions. The album includes ten tracks, each featuring remarkable singers from around the world. Singers like Brazilian artist Mariene de Castro and Israeli Ladino superstar Yasmin Levy lend their talents to the album.
The music is complemented by a variety of global percussive instruments, with the calabash drum taking a central role.
