Maria Ángeles González Winner of the Flamenco Singing Talent Contest ‘Naranjito de Triana’ 2023

Maria Ángeles González has won the first prize in the ‘Naranjito de Triana’ Flamenco Singing Talent Contest 2023, organized by the Cristina Heeren Foundation for Flamenco Art, with the collaboration of Acciona and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, and the Joly Group.

After the pre-selection of all the applicants who registered for the contest, the singing final was full of emotion, talent and, above all, great enthusiasm on the part of the participants, who offered those in attendance a magnificent flamenco singing show. The second prize went to Antonio López and the third went to Marta Bogado.

Naranjito de Triana 2023 winner

In addition to the winners, the contest jury also awarded the Acciona Scholarships associated with this contest. Specifically, these scholarships have been awarded to Marta Bogado and Maria Ángeles González.

The final of the cante (singing) contest, presented by the journalist Rafael Cortegana and held at the Teatro Flamenco Triana, was attended and greeted by Cristina Heeren, president of the Fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte Flamenco. During her speech, Cristina Heeren emphasized the outpouring of talent and courage on the part of all the participants, highlighting the importance of this contest within the Foundation’s program, which aims to attract young talent and promote job creation in the sector. Likewise, Heeren emphasized Acciona’s commitment to this contest, through their valuable educational scholarships.

Manuel Díaz Cuerva, Business Development Manager of Acciona Zona Sur, made it clear in his words that he is very satisfied that Acciona has accompanied the Flamenco Talent Contest for seven years. “Little by little, young talents are joining the professional scene, and that makes Acciona proud”.

In addition, the event was attended by Cristóbal Ortega, director of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco, who insisted on the importance of these contests in the bid to generate new talent and their professionalization.
