Madrid Me Gusta: Essential Flamenco

Flamenco Capital presents Madrid Me Gusta: Essential Flamenco

The Flamenco Capital series will present today, May 11, Madrid Me Gusta (I Like Madrid): Essential Flamenco at Teatro Tablao Flamenco Torero in Madrid, Spain.

The show will feature 6 artists on stage: a bailaor and a bailaora, a cantaor, a guitar, a cajón (percussion) and a violin. The essence of Flamenco: Since its beginnings, Flamenco has developed in a private setting. The artists danced and sang in “the room”, before a select group of friends, without any amplification. And the brick caves were chosen for their magnificent sound. This is the authentic, genuine show that Essential Flamenco wants to recreate.

The artistic director is “El Mistela”, National Flamenco Critic Award. Lead dancer in “Carmen”, with Salvador Távora and in “El Amor Brujo”, with Mario Maya. To say that Mistela conducts “Essential Flamenco” is a guarantee of good taste, it is synonymous with quality.

Essential Flamenco wants to recover intimacy, which was the essence of authentic flamenco. The audience literally glued to the stage, surrounded by three rows of chairs. No tables, no meals, no distractions. Flamenco is an art that stands on its own. Before reaching public stages, it was played with the family, at private parties, in cellars behind closed doors, which gave it an air of semi-clandestinity.

Shows at 18:00, 19:30 and 21:00
