Malian singer Inna Baba Coulibaly has released as music video for the song Asina Leylé. The track will appear in her highly anticipated album, Djilly Kawral (Love and Peace), set to release on May 5th, 2023.
Asina Leylé is a traditional Fulani and Moor song that reflects the important role of the paternal uncle in the Fulani tradition. The song is a prayer in which the singer implores the help and protection of Allah, as well as seeking the guidance and support of their maternal and paternal uncles. The lyrics also speak to witnesses and people of various communities, asking for their assistance in times of hardship. Despite the challenges faced, the singer’s determination to continue singing and dancing is emphasized. Through the song, the tradition of seeking help and support from family and community is celebrated.
