Aukai, the project of German musician Marcus Sieber, is set to release a new album titled “Apricity.” In Apricity, an old English word to describe the warmth of the sun in winter, Aukay presents a spellbinding recording with a deep sense of intimacy and appreciation of quiet comforts.
“It’s more of a journey inwards,” notes Aukai of the album, “I think my albums through the last 6 years have been increasing in complexity and density somehow, and suddenly my mood shifted drastically, it seemed all too loud and busy, and a desire came for more simplicity and much more intimate acoustic sound.”
During the past years, Aukai les a wandering, nomadic lifestyle that took him from the squatting scene in Berlin to remote villages in Central and South America to Colorado, where he’s recently built a more permanent base. Aukai uses the dulcet tones of his charango, the South American stringed instrument that he has adopted.
