Gal Costa, One of Brazil’s Greatest Singers, Dies at 77

Singer and songwriter Gal Costa, one of the finest vocalists in Brazil, passed away on November 9, 2022, in São Paulo. She was 77 years old.

Costa was one of the leading acts in Brazil’s Tropicalia movement along with Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Maria Bethania.

Some of Costa’s most significant songs include “Baby,” “Vapor Barato,” “Coração Vagabundo,” “Objeto não Identificado” and “Meu Nome é Gal.”
