On November 4, 2022, acclaimed Tuareg band Tinariwen are set to release a series of special catalog projects; ‘Kel Tinariwen’, an early cassette tape gem, together with the first-ever vinyl reissues of Independiente era albums ‘Aman Iman’ (2007) and ‘Imidiwan: Companions’ (2009).
‘Kel Tinariwen’ (Wedge) is a revelatory discovery in the Tinariwen archives, an early cassette tape recorded in the early 1990s that never received a wider release, and sheds new light on the band’s already rich history. Not having yet developed the fuller band sound that they became internationally established with, ‘Kel Tinariwen’ features their trademark hypnotic guitar lines and call-and-response vocals mixed with raw drum machine rhythms and keyboard melodies.
‘Aman Iman’ (2007) and ‘Imidiwan: Companions’ (2009) are reissued featuring original artwork replications, pressed on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl at MPO/Noiseland in France. Very limited-edition colored vinyl versions are available via UK independent record stores.
