Suma Flamenca 2022, one of the largest flamenco events in the world, will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18th in Madrid. The festival will run until November 6, 2022. The festival intends to put the spotlight on Madrid as the historical epicenter of flamenco art.
The series of events will feature 195 artists at various stages in the Spanish capital, as well as seven towns in the Madrid autonomous region. Suma Flamenca includes 36 shows programmed by the festival itself and another five programmed by the Red de Teatros (Theater Network), so that the public will be able to have an overview of the flamenco that is performed today in Spain. The exclusive and relevant condition of the festival is determined by its fifteen worldwide premieres and thirteen premieres in Madrid.
With Suma Flamenca, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, the capital of Spain is set to become the soul of flamenco in a moment of ebullience and hope, of coexistence between young artists and established performers.
The lineup is impressive, the artists scheduled to perform include Carmen Linares, Rafael Riqueni, María Pagés, Tomatito, El Pele, Mayte Martín, La Tati, Capullo de Jerez, Dorantes, Jesús Carmona, Patricia Guerrero, Esperanza Fernández and Dani de Morón.
