“Argile” (clay) is the new album from Lakhdar Hanou Ensemble, led by French-Algerian ud player Lakhdar Hanou. This time, the ensemble turns its attention towards ancient Mesopotamia, centering on its history and myths, some of which were carved on clay tablets.
Lakhdar Hanou’s acoustic ensemble performs music with Middle Eastern and classical influences.
The lineup on “Argile” includes Lakhdar Hanou on ud; Suzanne Abdalhadi on vocals and daf; Mira Avualzulof on piano; Auguste Harle on cello; Francois Paco Labat on darbuka; and Raphael Sibertin-Blanc on kemenche.
