Brazilian artists Ana Maria Carvalho was one of the artists featured at the Mestre dos Saberes Festival in December 2021. Direct heiress of traditional culture masters, Ana Maria Carvalho is a singer, composer, educator and dancer. She has been a performer for the Cupuaçu Group, for over 20 years, and a singer and actress for the Ventoforte Theater, for 25 years.
Ana Maria Carvalho released a solo album and her songs were recorded by various artists. Her work reveals a deep influence from her homeland, Maranhão, including genres such as bumba meu boi, cirandas, forró, cacuriá, ladainhas from Divino Espírito Santo, acalantos, sambas and traditional roda rhymes.
The lineup at the festival included Ana Maria Carvalho on vocals and maraca; Ana Flor de Carvalho on vocals and percussion; Ariel Coelho on percussion; André Fajersztajn on clarinet; Marquinho Mendonça on guitar and cavaco; and Guilherme Kafé on bass.
