The SGAE Foundation will present the second edition of Cante flamenco, a series devoted to flamenco singing programmed by flamenco guitarist Juan Carmona. The concerts will take place on December 10 and 11, 2021 at the Sala Berlanga (calle Andrés Mellado, 53. Madrid.) starting at 20:30 (8:00 pm).
The series will highlight vocalists Kiki Cortiñas, Mariángeles Fernández, Juañares and Alejandro Udó, some of the best examples of the new wave of flamenco artists, descendants or linked to some of the most important flamenco dynasties such as Tomatito or the Carrasco Soto.
Kiki Cortiñas and Mariángeles Fernández will open the second edition of Cante Flamenco on December 10 at 8:30 p.m. They have become one of the most talked about couples in the current flamenco scene, although they will perform independently at Sala Berlanga. They are linked to Tomatito’s lineage. Mariángeles is Tomatito’s daughter and Kiki, her husband, has composed songs for Tomatito. Kiki Cortiñas won the Odeon Award for Best Flamenco Album in 2019, highly influenced by the sounds of jazz. Meanwhile, Mariángeles Fernández will present her latest album.
Two very different artists will close this second edition of Cante Flamenco: Juañares and Alejandro Udó. Singer and guitarist Juañares is a native of the cradle of flamenco, Jerez; he has had a successful career that allowed him to share the stage with artists such as Ketama, Niña Pastori, Navajita Plateá, Diego El Cigala, Chanson Flamenca, Tomate, Juan Habichuela, among others. He belongs to the Soto and Carrasco family; flamenco runs through his veins since he was born. On the other hand, Alejandro Udó achieved fame after performing at the second edition of TV talent show La Voz. With pop singer David Bisbal as coach, he chamrmed the audience with his natural talent, his love for flamenco and now he ventures into a new sound, closer to pop.
