Daymé Arocena Performance and Educational Videos for Library of Congress

Acclaimed Cuban jazz vocalist and composer Daymé Arocena brought her music to the Library of Congress in October 2021. Arocena presented a fusion of jazz, Santeria chants, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and contemporary R&B. The show was presented in cooperation with the Revada Foundation of the Logan family.

The World Music Institute will present Daymé Arocena live at (le) poisson rouge on Thursday, November 11th, 2021.

In addition to her virtual performance, Arocena presented five short educational videos on Afro-Cuban rhythms, vocal improvisation, and Afro-Cuban influences in music.

The lineup included Daymé Arocena on vocals; Jorge Luis Lagarza on piano; Rafael Aldama on bass; and Marcos Morales on drums.
