Streaming Concert by Panamanian World Music Act Kaomi

Kaomi, a Panamanina world music trio featuring top singer-songwriters, is set to perform on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm Panama time (EST) from the city of Colón. Cost is €7.

Kaomi performs music, stories and poetry that engage the audience. The group mixes Panamanian and Latin American folk music.

Kaomi was established as a musical trio in 2016, while they were studying for a degree in music at the National University of Panama. The following year, they ventured for the first time in a performance of stories and music called “Cuentos del Tío Guachupé” together with Colombian spoken word narrator Harry Guerrero in Panama City.

In 2018, Kaomi released its first EP, “Somos” in digital format. The recording will be released in CD format in 2021. They trio has participated in cultural festivals in different provinces of Panama, in international virtual music festivals and spoken word narration in Latin America and Central America in 2020. In addition to musicians, they are teachers, cultural activists and founders and directors of Juventud Cultural, a movement in favor of the arts, young people and the emerging artists in the province of Colón, Panama.

The trio includes Karina Castillo on lead vocals and guitar; Oriel Camargo on vocals and keyboards; and
Karla Ruíz on vocals and percussion.
