American bluesman Cedric Burnside has released on video the lead single “Step In” which appears in his upcoming album I Be Trying (Single Lock Records). On “Step In,” Burnside prays to the heavens to escape hardship and despair but with metaphors reflecting the ails of our present-day world: “like an addict fiending for crack…Lord step in.”
I Be Trying is a collection of 13 original Mississippi Hill Country Blues songs. The album features stories of connection, hurt and redemption in the American South. The album features musicians like Alabama Shakes bassist Zac Cockrell and New Orleans drummer Reed Watson (John Paul White etc).
Cedric is the grandson of the great RL Burnside. His career began at age 13 with an unmatched musical education in his grandfather’s touring band.currently, he is the leading performer of Hill Country Blues.
