Fado star Mariza has released a new song titled “Mãe” (“mother” in English). It is a very special song for Mariza, since this composition arose from a poem that Martim, Mariza’s son, dedicated to his mother.
Mariza was so moved by reading the words of her son that she shared it on social networks. Composer Miguel Correia felt that he should make a song as soon as he read Martim’s poem and that it be performed by Mariza’s voice. Thus, after a collaboration between both artists, this new song was born, honoring all mothers.
“My son’s poem was the greatest declaration of love that any human being could overcome,” acknowledges Mariza.
