Mandolin Orange Becomes Watchhouse and Unveils First Video

Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz have released their first video under the name Watchhouse. The duo who over the past decade have achieved grassroots success as the American roots and bluegrass act Mandolin Orange, announced recently that they are now called Watchhouse.

Said the duo in a statement: “This past year has been the first time we’ve stayed still since we were 21, and the pause gave us the opportunity to sit with ourselves and set intentions. We have long been burdened by the dichotomy between our band name and the music we strive to create—if you’ve heard the songs, you know they are personal. Now that we can see a future where music is a shared experience again, we’re defining the space we share with you on a stage or in your headphones, and making it one that welcomes our creativity and anyone who wants to listen.”

Mandolin Orange’s discography includes Quiet Little Room ‎(2010), Haste Make/Hard-Hearted Stranger ‎(2011), This Side Of Jordan (2013), Such Jubilee (2015), Blindfaller (2016), Tides Of A Teardrop (2019) and Mandolin Orange ‎– Austin City Limits Live At The Moody Theater January 23 (2020).

  1. I LOVE Mandolin Orange and am looking forward to seeing them in Telluride this summer–but why the name change?
