Anástasis (Saphrane Records) is the new album from iconic Greek singer and percussionist Katerina Papadopoulou. “Anástasis” is also the Greek word for resurrection and represents the concept of this recording: how Greek music travels, changes and stays alive. A lovely album by a splendid singer, accompanied by a first-rate ensemble.
The songs of this project portray an imaginary journey of the Rose of Jericho through space and ages, in places that were part of Hellenic culture. The songs and tunes hail from Asia Minor, the Aegean, Thrace, Macedonia, Pontos and southern Italy.
Release date is March 12, 2021.
