Sauti za Busara festival in Zanzibar primarily showcases live and original music from the African Continent and diaspora. Artists from the Arab World and Indian Ocean region are also welcome to apply. The deadline to submit artists’ applications is July 31, 2020. The festival especially encourages women and young, emerging artists. The 2021 edition is scheduled for February 11 – 14, 2021. The full line up of artists and events will be announced in October.
With regard to coronavirus and the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers stated: “we are closely monitoring the situation at home and abroad to make adjustments if required. Our priority is the safety and security of the local population, the broader music community and everyone involved in the event.”
