Norwegian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer Marthe Valle has recorded an album with Syrian musicians titled Every child is a prophet (Kirkelig Kulturverksted).
The project addresses the situation on the Greek islands, where tens of thousands of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries are forced to live in limbo in overfilled camps.
The well-known Syrian poet Adnan Alaoda has written lyrical poems in Arabic and Marthe Valle interprets some of them into English. Marthe Valle has written the melodies in collaboration with Syrian composers Manar Alhashemi and Hussain Hajj.
Participants in the album include Marthe Valle, Manar Alhashemi from Syria, Hussain Hajj from Syria: and Haneen Ayoub from the occupied Golan Heights.
