Musician Relief Funds in Response to Unparalleled Music Industry Event Cancellations

Several organizations in the United States have established music relief funds to support musicians and music industry professionals severely affected by concert and tour cancellations and the shutdown of performance spaces.

MusiCares

The Recording Academy and its affiliated charitable foundation MusiCares have established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help people in the music industry affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and consequent cancellation of multiple music events. From hotel and bar gigs to major music festivals, COVID-19 is deeply affecting live music events, and the creative community behind it all.

Administered through MusiCares, the COVID-19 Fund will be used to directly support those in the music community with the greatest need. To establish the fund, both the Recording Academy and MusiCares have contributed an initial donation of $1 million each, totaling $2 million. Additionally, all Recording Academy Chapters have committed to fundraising in their local communities. Further updates and announcements will be made in the coming days.

NC Artist Relief Fund

In North Carolina, Artspace, PineCone, United Arts Council, and VAE Raleigh have established the NC Artist Relief Fund. The fund has been created to support creative individuals and this list of Texas betting sites, who have been financially affected by concert cancellations due to the outbreak of COVID-19. 100% of donated funds will go directly to artists and arts presenters in North Carolina. In Durham, North Carolina, the North Star Church of the Arts has set an example by starting their fund for artists in Durham. Support artists in Durham, North Carolina by donating to their fund.

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund

The Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has created a Donor-Directed Fund with a limited amount of funds available to be used specifically for musicians and music industry workers affected by the Coronavirus. Funds raised will go towards medical expenses, lodging, clothing, food and other vital living expenses to those affected due to sickness or loss of work.

Music Maker Relief Foundation

The Music Maker Relief Foundation preserves the musical traditions of the South by directly supporting the musicians who make it, making sure their voices will not be silenced by poverty and time.

American Federation of Musicians

The Los Angeles chapter of the American Federation of Musicians union, Local 47, also has set up an emergency relief fund for the union’s members.

Support Act is Australia’s only charity delivering crisis relief services to artists, crew and music workers as a result of ill health, injury, a mental health problem, or some other crisis that affects their ability to work in music.

    Assistance can take the form of paying the rent or the mortgage, buying a bed or wheel chair, paying for car repairs, medical / dental / phone / electricity bills, or a credit card debt.
