Flamenco Festival USA will celebrate the art of flamenco in the United States showcasing top artists in the current flamenco scene and new visions flamenco combined with other arts and disciplines such as jazz and world music. Carnegie Hall, the New York City Center, the Olympia Theater and the Lincoln Center will host these shows.
The festival starts March 2, with the National Ballet of Spain, led by Antonio Najarro, who returns to New York with Suite Sevilla that will be staged March 2, 3 and 4 at the New York City Center.
On Saturday, March 3rd, guitar maestro José Antonio Rodríguez will perform his latest work at Roulette.
New York City Center will also present the Eva Yerbabuena Company’s Carne y hueso show on March 9 and 10. The Flamenco Ballet of Jesús Carmona will showcase Ímpetus during the weekend.
The show Tempo de Luz at Carnegie Hall will present three of the finest flamenco vocalists, Carmen Linares, Arcángel and Marina Heredia.
On March 24, the Town Hall will host the unique encounter of the Habichuela Family, with Pepe Habichuela and Josemi Carmona at the front, with another great dynasty of musicians, the O’Farrills, Arturo and Adam.
Jazz at Lincoln Center has scheduled the show Rags, Strides, & Habaneras featuring Chano Dominguez, Dick Hyman, Sullivan Fortner and Joey Alexander on March 2 and 3. Lovers of flamenco and jazz encounters will also be able to enjoy the virtuosity of Flamenco Meets Jazz during March 22-24, a meeting gestated by the veteran pianist Dorantes, Israeli double bass player Adam Ben Erza and the Rolling Stones’ saxophonist Tim Ries as guest artist.
