Ethno India 2016 announced the program for next year’s edition. The event will take place March 6-14. An Ethno is an assembly of young musicians (18-30 years) from around the world that lasts for about a week. Musicians live together during this time and teach each other musical pieces from their country in workshops that they conduct themselves, assisted by experienced Artistic Leaders. All participants get an opportunity to learn new music, and typically around 15-20 tunes will be taught & performed, many more are shared in jams.

The Ethno concludes with a series of concerts that may be stand-alone or connected to a larger festival. At the end of the camp, everyone leaves for home, or on to the next Ethno. Many musicians become friends for life, and often form new bands and projects with the people they meet during the camp.

An Ethno took place in India for the first time in 2014, at the picturesque village of Bir in Himachal Pradesh. Forty musicians from twelve countries participated, and recorded a world-class CD, besides performing two concerts in Bir and New Delhi.

Musicians from 15 countries, Chile, Sweden, UK, Estonia, Jordan, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Portugal, Iran, Turkey, Indonesia and India have applied to take part in Ethno India 2016.
