Ana Laíns, one of the leading fado vocalists, will be heading to the United States to make her first major tour. Between October 16 and 24 October, the famed Portuguese vocalist singer will perform a series of concerts and workshops at the invitation of several North American universities, in partnership with Portuguese / American Cultural Exchange, Inc.
This tour is the culmination of a year full of concerts for Ana Laíns, who recently participated in the concert closing the Commemoration of 8 Centuries of Portuguese Language.
Ana Laíns will travel with Sandro Costa on guitar, António Neto on Portuguese guitar and Pedro Galveias on vocals. Her discography includes Sentidos and Quatro Caminhos.
“I am very committed to this project,” says Ana Laíns about the tour. “It has a strong educational component and is a huge challenge. We will do regular concerts and some days will be dedicated exclusively to workshops on fado and the Portuguese language. It is a project that honors me and fills me deeply, because it fits perfectly into what I consider to be my big goal as a singer: I want to feel useful in disseminating and developing my country’s culture. ”
