Gypsy Flamenco Guitar Maestro Anton Jimenez to Perform in New York

Flamenco guitar virtuoso and composer Antón Jiménez, one of the top guitar players in Spain, is set to perform on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Roulette in Downtown Brooklyn.

Born into a Gypsy family, Jiménez is related to the great guitar masters Ramón Montoya and Mario Escudero. His extensive credits include accompanying famed singer Diego El Cigala and celebrity dancer Joaquín Cortés, performing in Carlos Saura’s iconic Flamenco, and composing music for Rafael Amargo, Lola Greco and Rocío Molina. In recent years, Jiménez co-directed, composed original music and performed with the Guitarra de Palo film and concert project that united renowned musicians of flamenco and jazz. In this program, he will be accompanied by La Conja on palmas (handclap percussion).

 

 

The concert is co-presented with Lotus Music & Dance with the support of the Consulate General of Spain in New York. Made possible in part with public funding provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State legislature.
