Brighton-based world music band The Voodoo Love Orchestra has a new album titled Amor y Muerte (Love and Death) on Movimientos Records. The group is characterized by a vibrant dance mix of tropical Latin music, Afrobeat, jazz and beyond.
The globe-trotting ensemble’s influences include Colombian cumbia, Cuban comparsa, New Orleans Jazz, Mississippi blues, Nigerian Afrobeat, Jamaican ska and Ghanaian highlife.
The musicians perform a wide range of instruments such as sousaphone, trombone, trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax, alto sax, clarinet, vocals, military-style drumcorps and Latin American percussion.
