Reggae Legends Black Uhuru to Perform at The Kazimier in Liverpool

Celebrated reggae act Black Uhuru is set to perform at the Kazimier club in Liverpool (UK) on Friday August 14th, 2015.

Five-Star General, Derrick “Duckie” Simpson and his Lion Lieutenant, Andrew Bees, lead Black Uhuru. The group was created in the Waterhouse district of Kingston, Jamaica in 1972 by Euvin “Don Carlos” Spencer, Rudolph “Garth” Dennis, and Derrick “Duckie” Simpson. Uhuru means freedom in Swahili. The group is one of the most successful of the second-generation reggae groups.

Black Uhuru’s debut album was “Love Crises”, released in 1977. Since then, the group has released over 25 albums including “Anthem”, which was the first reggae album to win a Grammy, and “Red”, that was voted #23 in Rolling Stone’s list of “100 Greatest Albums of the 1980′s”. After Bob Marley, Black Uhuru have achieved the highest record sales in reggae music.
