Visa for Music (VFM) is seeking African music showcase and video documentary applications for its second edition to be held November 11-14 in Rabat, Morocco. Organizers clarified that the beauty of African music is not confined to the geographical continent. Artists from the diaspora (e.g. Afro-Caribbean) are welcomed as well. The application deadline is May 15, 2015.
There are four categories:
- showcases
- DJ’s/VJ’s
- music film/documentaries
- music video
24 artists (or bands), 6 music documentaries, and 10 music videos will be chosen by a professional jury. The selection will be presented to over 1.000 professionals from all over the world.
VFM will host the The International Music Council’s General Assembly during the VFM conference in November. Originated by UNESCO in 1949, the international NGO promotes musical rights and access to music for every one, throughout a network of more than 1000 organizations in 150 countries. Through specific programs, the International Music Council encourages the development of a favorable environment for musical diversity. Around a hundred of delegates will attend VFM 2015.
