Son Jarocho Meets the Blues

Old Town School of Folk Music will present a meeting of Mexican son jarocho with American blues on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

Sones de México Ensemble and Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues, both celebrated artists, will join hands to explore common denominators between Mexican music and the Chicago Blues.

Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues has released Blues Shock and Blues Jam Live Audio: Billy Branch & The Sons Of Blues in addition to numerous Billy Branch solo albums.

Joining them will be members of The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago, tap dancer Reggio ‘The Hoofer’ McLaughlin, Billy’s backup singers Nadima (Nanette Frank, Diane Madison, and Mae Koen) and dancer/actor Michael Pogue.

Sones de México’s discography includes Esta Tierra Es Tuya, Fiesta Mexicana: Mexican Songs, Fandango on 18th Street and Viva La Revolucion!
