First Artists Announced for Towersey Festival 2015

Bellowhead and Show Of Hands are the first headliners announced for 2015’s Towersey Festival. The British traditional and contemporary folk music festival with be held Friday, August 28 through Monday, August 31, 2015.

Other acts include singer-songwriter Sally Barker, Scottish supergroup The Treacherous Orchestra, and Martin Simpson, whose new project sees him team with Nancy Kerr and melodeon player Andy Cutting.

Other artists announced for the famed independent Oxfordshire festival include songwriter and guitarist John Smith (fresh from supporting David Gray), Mancunian alternative folk combo The Travelling Band, and Towersey favorites The Spooky Men’s Chorale (Blue Mountains Australia). Additional headline acts will be revealed in the New Year.

We’re very pleased to be welcoming back Bellowhead, who have become one of the UK’s biggest live bands since they first played Towersey in 2006,” says Festival Director Joe Heap. “If our Golden Jubilee in 2014 was our best festival yet, we want to make 2015 even better! We have some real surprises in store for festival-goers this year, as well as retaining everything our regular visitors have told us they love so much about Towersey.”

Bellowhead is an 11-piece English contemporary folk act. Bellowhead have won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Best Live Act title five times. Their discography includes, Burlesque (2006), Matachin (2008), Hedonism (2010), Broadside (2012), and Revival (2014).

Show Of Hands is an equally well regarded act in the British acoustic roots field.

Even though she is probably best known for her tear jerking performances on The Voice UK, Sally Barker has a long and respected career as both a solo artist and member of the recently reformed Poozies.

Towersey Festival debuted in 1964. It features multiple performance spaces, top musical talent, spoken word, dance, workshops, family-friendly activities, food and drink.

Tier One tickets for the full festival are available now. Prices start from just £90 (Adult), £63 (Youth 12-17yrs), £45 (Child 5-11yrs), with under 5s free. Camping £25 (per adult/ youth). Split payment option available.
